Ede-Wageningen train station — traveller guide
Facts checked on 4 July 2026
The quick answer: the station has two sides, connected by a passenger tunnel. The south side (Polar Bearsplein 1, 6717 XN Ede) is the main entrance: buses, taxis, the guarded bike parking with OV-fiets rental and — from 1 August 2026 — the P+R parking garage. The north side (Stationsplein 6, 6711 PN Ede) has the temporary pick-up/drop-off point (Kiss & Ride) and free unguarded bike parking.
Going to Wageningen or the WUR campus? There is no train station in Wageningen — take bus 303 from the south side.
How do I get to Wageningen and the WUR campus?
Wageningen has no train station of its own — Ede-Wageningen is the nearest station. From the bus station on the south side (Polar Bearsplein), bus 303 (the “Rijnlijn”) takes you without changing to the WUR campus and Wageningen town centre: every 10 minutes at peak times, every 15 minutes during the day and at weekends, and every 30 minutes in the evening.
A faster-than-you-think alternative: rent an OV-fiets (public transport rental bicycle, see below) — about 15 minutes’ cycling to the campus. Plan bus journeys via 9292.nl or the NS app.
Where do I park my bike — and how does OV-fiets work?
The guarded, covered bike parking is on the south side: the first 24 hours are free, after that € 0.65 per day. You check in and out with an OV-chipkaart — the Dutch public transport smart card — or with a bike tag (€ 2.50 one-off). It is open from half an hour before the first train until half an hour after the last one (weekdays roughly 05:30–01:35). On the north side (Noordplein) there is a free, unguarded bike parking area.
OV-fiets rental bikes are inside the guarded parking on the south side: walk through the passenger tunnel towards Zuidplein; the entrance is on the left. You unlock the bike with an OV-chipkaart that has an OV-fiets subscription — there is no key. Check availability in the NS app or at ovfietsbeschikbaar.nl.
New to the Netherlands? Ticket machines and OV-chipkaart top-up points are on both sides of the passenger tunnel.
Where can I park a car?
From 1 August 2026 you park in the new P+R garage at Polar Bearsplein 1 (south side, drive in via the Akulaan): 539 spaces, € 1.00 per 25 minutes, capped at € 9.00 per day. Travelling on by train? Then the P+R rate of € 4.50 per day applies (max. 72 consecutive hours). Pay by debit card. The garage has 6 disabled parking spaces and 16 EV charging points.
Until 1 August 2026 there is a temporary P+R area on the north side — follow the signs. Note: from 1 August 2026 the surrounding streets switch to paid/permit parking, so don’t park in the neighbourhood. Full details on our Dutch page: parkeren.
Picking someone up? Google Maps sends you to the wrong place
Don’t navigate to “Kiss & Ride”. The pick-up/drop-off point is temporarily on the north side only and Google Maps does not show this correctly (checked 4 July 2026). Drive to the Stationsweg (towards Stationsplein 6, 6711 PN Ede) and follow the yellow diversion signs.
Agree on a recognisable meeting point — for example “under the wooden canopy at the north entrance” — because the station has two sides. Need to wait for a delayed train? Use the P+R, not the Kiss & Ride. A shareable instruction card (in Dutch) is on our pick-up page.
What facilities does the station have?
- StationsHuiskamer (station lounge) — coffee, fresh sandwiches, free wifi, power sockets and workspaces: the place to wait or work.
- Toilets, including an accessible toilet.
- 3 platforms, 4 tracks — lifts and escalators to every platform; the station is fully wheelchair accessible. The Valleilijn (local line towards Barneveld and Amersfoort) usually departs from the north side — always check the departure boards or the NS app.
- Luggage lockers — probably not available (still being verified), so plan on keeping your luggage with you.
Once outside: Ede town centre is a 18–20 minute walk from the north side, and the Veluwe forest starts about 10 minutes away by bike — more on our Dutch page omgeving.
